BUILDING DRAWING PARAMETERS

BUILDING DRAWING PARAMETERS

Building drawing parameter is a topic where we specify the proper dimensions of building parts.
From the starting of civilization a basic and fundamental need is home.
So here I tried to explain about this parameter in a proper way.
engineering drawing basics

Here I explain only the standard type of building parameter.
First of all we need to know the parts of building. A building consist Bed Room,Drawing Room, Kitchen,Toilet,Stair case, Veranda etc.

STANDARD DIMENSION OF ROOM

Standard Bed Room - 3000 x 3600 mm
Drawing Room - 3000 x 3000 mm
Kitchen - 2100 x 3000 mm
Toilet - 1800 x 2400
Veranda width - 1200 to 1500 mm
Stair case - Normal Dog leg - 2100 x 3300
Stair trade - 250 mm Rise 150 mm Landing width - 900 mm.
This is in to in measurements of such description. Now some technical specifications elaborate below.

FOUNDATION

1.Column Foundation:-

civil engineering

Pit Cutting or Earth work in excavation - 1200 mm x 1200 mm x 1200 mm.
Base - 1200 x 1200 mm
Trapezoidal Section Height - 300 mm
Column - 250 x 250 mm
Remember this measurement is standard for G+1 building otherwise proper design required.

2.Bricks Foundation or Load Bearings wall foundation.

Depth - 1000 mm
Width - 1050 mm
Sand filling- 75 mm
Plain Cement Concrete - 125 mm thick along all length and width.
First Footing -     600 mm x 250 mm
Second Footing - 450 mm x 250 mm.
Here two term GL and PL introduce. GL means Ground Level, the upper most part of that ground where building is to be constructed. And PL means Plinth Level, where the building floor situated.
The distance of GL to PL varies 600 mm to 900 mm as per situation.
Main load bearing wall always be not less than 250 mm. Other partition wall may be 125 mm or 75 m thick.

HEIGHT OF BUILDING

Normally PL/Floor to roof height is 3100 mm. Roof slab thickness is 125 mm. So if we consider GL to PL is 600 mm then total building Height will be (3100+125+600)= 3825 mm for single storied residential building. Another things to be consider is Mumpty Room or Stair Room. The wall height of mumpty room is 2400 mm. 125 mm slab also over wall.

DOOR WINDOW

Most essential part of a building is doors and windows. The position of door and window is selective and also discuss with building planner otherwise our sweet home is not weather friendly. In another blog I will discuss briefly about the position of door and windows. Now come to the point.

Dimension of door is           2100 x 900 mm or 2100 x 1000 mm or 1800 x 900 mm
Dimension of window is     900 x 1200 mm or 1200 x 1200 mm or 1500 x 1200 mm

Window Seal is provided 900 mm from PL and height is maintained 1200 mm. So from PL the height of top of window is 2100 mm. Here we provided Lintel. Lintel is a beam which thickness varies 250 mm to 150 mm and width 250 mm along the load bearing wall.
From lintel along the width of window we provide Chajja. Chajja is a slab provide outside of wall to resist excess sunlight of rain enter in building and also gives a pleasant look in building.
Chajja dimension - Length -      900 mm to 1200 mm
                                Breadth -    300 mm to 450 mm
Thickness - free end 75 mm and fixed end 150 mm.
Door and Window Frame :- Section of frame 80 mm x 80 mm taken.

BEAMS

Beams used in building for various prospective. Depends on their use beam is classified in various categories. In G+1 type building mainly three type of beam is used 1.Tie Beam, 2. Roof Beam, 3. Lintel Beam. Lintel dimension is given above.
Tie beam sectional dimension is 250 mm x 250 mm.
Roof beam is one type of "T" beam. Flange depth 250 mm and width 250 mm.

Conclusion :-   Here I complete most of the basic dimension of building. But I think the dimension of Stair Case, Beam and Column is much more precious. So I explain this three topic in next blog with all details. Please support me to shear this blog if my knowledge helps you a little bit.Thanks.
