CHANGE IMPERIAL DRAWING TO METRIC AND METRIC TO IMPERIAL IN AUTO CAD (PART-2)

Hi, friends.
This blog is the Part-2 of "CHANGE IMPERIAL DRAWING TO METRIC AND METRIC TO IMPERIAL IN AUTO CAD". Here I discuss about the Changing dimension of Metric to Imperial. Hope you all see the Part-1 before. If not here's the link and must read that for better understanding.

So no more words lets come to the point.

CHANGE METRIC DRAWING TO IMPERIALS

In previous blog I told you the concept about scale and implement that. Here it also be same but in previous blog the scale was enlarging and now the scale will be reducing. See how.

We know that 1 inch is equal to 25.4 mm . Or in others word 25.4 mm is equal to 1 inch. So 1 mm is equal to (1/25.4) or 0.03937 inch . Therefore, 1 mm length is 1/25.4 part of 1 inch.

Lets take the same example.

1. Here dimension are given in "mm".Our aim is to change it in "ft". First open a new Imperial sheet.

2. Copy whole drawing from Metric Sheet by Ctrl+C and paste using Ctrl+V in newly open Imperial Sheet.

3. Check out it given a dimension. Its huge !!

4. Now its time to scale it down. Type "Scale" command ,select the drawing and Specifying Base point its time to give the Scale factor.

5. We know that here the reducing scale will used. So the scale factor will be (1/25.4) or 0.03937.

6.Give the Scale factor 0.03937 and hit enter.

7. See a messy drawing !! Don't panic Clear the Dimension and give dimension again. Now See the result. Congrats!! Your drawing is Completely converted from Metric to Imperials.

Now For Civil Engineering Drawing We consider 1 inch is equal to 25 mm.

So, for civil drawing follow the above steps as it is but in Step 7. change "Specify scale factor" 1/25 or 0.04 . Now your drawing is ready.
